JULY 1, 2013 — Damen Shipyards Group has delivered World Diamond, the first of six Damen PSV 3300 vessels built for Norwegian offshore support company World Wide Supply. The 3300 series vessels are part of a new range of Damen platform supply vessels based on a new, more efficient hull shape.
The 400-tonne deck capacity PSV 3300 has been designed and built in line with Damen's E3 principles - Environmentally friendly, Efficient in operation and Economically viable. It was developed after extensive design work in close cooperation with the client and full tank testing at Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (Marin).
"As a result, this state of the art PSV 3300 features a wave piercing bow, slender hull lines, and diesel electric propulsion with azimuth stern drives, in a combination that minimizes fuel consumption," says Jan van Os, the shipbuilder's Director Offshore. "The vessel offers superior seakeeping, ideal for rough seas, and features DP2 capability as well as newly designed anti-roll tanks and an optimized superstructure for crew comfort. Long smooth lines in the entire form also have a positive effect on the durability of coatings."
The PSV 3300, is one of five newly designed platform supply vessels available from Damen.
