APRIL 25, 2013 — An order placed by Sølvtrans AS with Spanish shipbuilder Zamakona Yards for the construction of a second 3,200 cu.m live-fish transporter (see earlier story) has meant a repeat order for Rolls-Royce, too.
Like the fish transporter, or well boat, that the Spanish shipyard will deliver to Sølvtrans in June, the new vessel will be built to Rolls-Royce NVC 386 design and will feature an advanced diesel-electric propulsion system including two Rolls-Royce Bergen C6 diesel engines and a hybrid shaft generator which significantly reduces energy consumption on board.
The latest Sølvtrans contract with Zamakona also includes options to build two more vessels of the same type, for deliveries in 2014 and 2015.
Monrad Hide, Rolls-Royce, General Manager - Fishing Vessels said: "This new vessel will be built according to the same specifications as the first with a high level of technology and environmental solutions. Our innovative hull design ensures cost effective operations and fuel efficiency as well as low emissions to air and sea."
