THE Danish Maritime Authority has made more of its maritime data accessible to the public through its online portal as it seeks to increase data-driven commercial developments in the industry.
Data available to the public include statistical data on anchorages, regatta lanes, shipping routes in Danish waters and navigational warnings issued by the authority.
People are also able to purchase access to positioning information on all commercial ships in Danish waters either online or in the form of raw data.
Additionally, the authority’s webpage will allow people to search for details on individual vessels in the Danish Shipping Register.
"…by making these data publicly available, we can hopefully contribute to the data-driven business development in the maritime industries. It is my hope that maritime companies, entrepreneurs and all Danes using the sea will make use of the data available – for example to create new applications, services and analyses that can contribute to growth…,” said Denmark’s minister for business and growth Troels Lund Poulsen.
The authority plans to make even more data available to the public in the days ahead.
