Cecon gets new delivery date from Davie

JULY 10, 2013—Those with a super power memory may recall that it was back on July 30, 2007 that Canada's then Davie Yards, Inc. started cutting steel for the first of three 130 m VS-4220 construction vessels for Norway's Cecon ASA.

Delivery of the first ship was scheduled for April 2009, the second in August the same year, and the third in December 2009.

Didn't happen.

Today, after multiple changes in shipyard ownership, contract prices and financing deals, Cecon said it "is pleased to confirm that the ramp-up and progress at Chantier Davie Canada Inc. for completion of the first vessel is now well underway.

"The yard confirms delivery of the first vessel 'Cecon Pride' to take place during week 8/2014 as per the contract.

"The sea trials will take place during second half January 2014. Currently a staff of over 400 is on site with a continued build up during the coming weeks.

"Cecon ASA looks forward to receiving the first vessel under the new yard contract and the new yard management."
