APRIL 1, 2013 — Arlington, VA, headquartered naval architecture and marine engineering firm Gibbs & Cox, Inc. reports that Christopher S. Deegan has joined its senior management team as Vice President of the company's Engineering Group.
Mr. Deegan is the former Chief Executive Officer for the NAVSEA Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems.

"With more than 27 years of leadership and executive experience in program management and acquisition for the Naval Sea Systems Command, he brings a deep understanding of the Navy's acquisition processes, engineering systems and its needs as a customer."
Mr. Deegan held his post at PEO IWS since 2008, overseeing a $5 billion annual budget and 450 acquisition professionals for acquisition and fleet support programs for the surface Navy's 155 combat systems, radars and weapons. His previous positions included NAVSEA's director Cost Engineering and Industrial Analysis and director of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Financial Management and Comptroller's Naval Cost Analysis Division.
Beginning in September 1997, Mr. Deegan served in several management roles for the Program Executive Officer, Submarines, by assuming leadership of the Financial Plans and Programs for the Seawolf Program Office. He served as the initial project officer for the Ohio Replacement Program (SSGN) from May 1999 until October 2000, when he became the deputy program manager for the Seawolf program and the SSN 23 Multi-Mission Platform project. He concluded his tenure at PEO Submarines in August 2003 after successfully leading the evaluation and negotiation of the $8.5 billion Block II multi-year contract for the Virginia Program Office.
At Gibbs & Cox, Inc., Mr. Deegan joins a privately held, independent engineering and design firm that has specialized in naval architecture, marine engineering, management support and engineering consulting since its founding in 1929. The company serves U.S. and international government customers and global marine industry clients.
