Ulstein books design and power orders for Vroon PSVs

MARCH 7, 2013 — Ulstein reports that it has entered into a contract for the delivery of design and power packages for two platform supply vessels of its PX121 design ordered from China's COSCO (Guangdong) Shipyard Co., Ltd. by Breskens, Netherlands, headquartered Vroon, which currently has four livestock carriers under construction at the same shipyard.

The vessels are planned for delivery from the shipbuilder in first quarter 2015 and are intended for operation in European waters by Vroon Offshore Services B.V. The contract also includes an option of two more vessels.

"The shipowner and yard are new customers to Ulstein. We are very grateful for the new order and look forward to the cooperation," comments Ulstein Design & Solutions managing director Sigurd Viseth.

The Vroon ships will be the ninth and tenth built to the X-bowed PX121 design. Yesterday, Ulstein delivered the third of six PX 121 vessels ordered by its Blue Ship Invest subsidiary (see earlier story) and shipowner Britoil has previously ordered two such vessels. Britoil will build those vessels at its own shipyard in Indonesia (see earlier story),
